Summary:
Reporting directly to the Senior Director, the Assistant Director of Outreach and Group Therapy oversees the outreach activities and group therapy services of the center.
These duties are in addition to those of the permanent clinical staff which include providing brief therapy to a culturally diverse student population, crisis intervention, and consultation and referral to the university community.
As an educator, the Assistant Director of Outreach and Group Therapy also trains and supervises health psychology interns and postdoctoral fellows and directly provides psycho-educational outreach to the campus community.
As a member of the larger staff in Student Life, the Assistant Director of Outreach and Group Therapy collaborates and cooperates to create leadership and intercultural competence opportunities to support student learning and development in the Jesuit Catholic tradition.
The mission of Student Life is to fully support holistic student development within a social justice framework centered in preparing students to be caring, socially responsible citizens in our global and local community.

Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive individual, couples and group counseling services to students working within a brief therapy model Provide crisis intervention services Work as a member of a team regarding agency administrative functioning Facilitate psychiatric hospitalization for students as required Provide information and referral for members of the campus community who are ineligible for services Consult with concerned families/friends of students, faculty, and staff Serve as guest lecturer on relevant professional topics as requested by faculty Provide educational outreach services to campus groups as requested Provide 24 hour crisis consultation to Residence Life, Student Life Division, Public Safety, and other administrative units of the University staff (cell phone rotated through staff) Maintain up-to-date case files as dictated by current professional standards Collaborate with other campus resources to provide 'crisis debriefing' to campus community in the event of community trauma Supervise and evaluate Psychology interns and Postdoctoral Fellow as relevant Create and present in-service and intercultural seminar training as requested Participate in weekly case conference Attend weekly in-service trainings as appropriate Attend weekly staff and permanent staff meetings Participate in the screening, interviewing and selection of counseling trainees and staff upon request Serve on interdepartmental hiring committees and interview candidates as requested Represent CAPS at campus events Serve on campus-wide committees as requested Adhere to ethical principles of the profession as articulated by the American Psychological Association; maintain up to date case files.
Responsibilities Specific to Role of Assistant Director of Outreach and Group Therapy Update and monitor on line outreach and group announcements to the community Train and mentor CAPS health psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows in their outreach efforts sharing materials and information, consulting with them regarding programs and budgetary considerations, and attending/evaluating one presentation provided by each trainee Educate student organizations about the procedure of requesting outreach service from CAPS to set realistic expectations/maintain positive public relations Identify and facilitate hiring of outside contractors to provide outreach when necessary Collect evaluated workshop feedback, providing summary information to presenters Collect data and provide annual report of outreach activities Oversee group therapy program.
This includes facilitating the development of group therapy offerings, promoting group therapy services to larger USF community, and evaluating group therapy program services.
QualificationsThe Assistant Director of Outreach and Group Therapy should have an interest in working within the context of a diverse, Jesuit Catholic university located in an urban, multicultural area; APA approved program preferred; doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or education; licensed within the State of California; experience within university counseling; prior brief therapy experience, previous administrative experience.

$95,000-105,000 annualized salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
